I've been scrounging around looking for a bike route from Chicago to New Buffalo/Union Pier, Michigan.

I've reached the obvious... take the Lakefront Bike Path to the end and ride South Shore Dr. to 12, and 12 all the way up.

But are there better ways?

Looking to do this this coming Friday, August 6.

from Chicago to Union Pier but I just got back from my vacation from Lakeside...can't wait to get back there...my wrists and elbow hurted a bit too much yet (from a mini crash I had about two weeks ago) to be doing much of riding this time....

I'd think that you'd be running thru some not-so-nice areas coming from Chicago? Wouldn't know for sure though...just a guess....

I am looking for a route up to Bridgman, not too far from Union Pier. If you do go I'm curious as to your thoughts on 12? What about 20?

Did you ride last Friday? If so, what was your route and how did you like it? I have been thinking of riding from Chicago to Sturgis, MI along route 12 but having done it yet. I would be interested in your thoughts.
