My Christmas present this year was to be able to take advantage of a sweet team deal on a BMC TT03. Below is a picture right after it came home. Now the fun part is changing it to a nice bike. New bars/shifters/brakes came in and I'm replacing the saddle as well (putting on Selle Italia SLR T1).

Sweet looking ride!!! although I can't understand your logic on not trusting Carbon stem but Carbon Handlebar.....

I'm not concerned about the stem as much as I am the screw in the clamp. I've know two guys who had the front plate (don't know what else to call it) of the carbon stem come loose while they were riding. On both occasions when looking at the stem it looked like the threads deteriorated over time and the stem had to be replaced. (yes, a torque wrench was used when installing) I'm sure there are plenty of other guys who have never had a problem but being in the aero bars when a stem front plate comes loose is not a confidence inspiring thought. Just a personal decision for my own confidence.

Ah, I misunderstood you. So you are concern with the front plate not the integrity of the carbon.
My Time Carbon stem has metal plate and the Stella Azzurra has metal one as well but coated with carbon.
I have been using carbon stems for a while and have yet to have problems so far.

Enjoy that sweet looking thing.....
