I bought a 76 Paramount P-14 and it came with a 2 bolt campy seatpost. Wouldn't the correct seatpost be a 1 bolt super record, either with flutes or without? Thanks

Many preferred the 2 bolt seatpost anyway, It never slipped. caterham 12-14-2007, 02:52 PM ..... TUT2222 12-14-2007, 04:53 PM Well, thanks for the info, it would appear to be correct. Unforunately, in the process of polishing it, I either have a fairly deep scratch, or a crack. I don't know what it would take to crack one, but I'm going to do some more sanding and polishing and see what happens. Richard 12-14-2007, 09:37 PM Pretty sure that was Pre-Super Record. I heard all the Euro pros preferred the single bolt Nouvo Record, with serrations in the cradle.:( curlybike 12-15-2007, 07:12 AM Had one. Never could stop the "smooth bore" from slipping. Many hated the serrated clamps because they were always perfectly in the wrong place for them and the increments were greater than desired. Guess that is why there is more than one flavor of ice cream, eh? Richard 12-15-2007, 07:39 AM Did the saddle angle change or did the saddle move front to back. Guess that is why there is more than one flavor of ice cream, eh? Saddle angle would change - sometimes a lot, like unrideable. And even though it used a 13mm hex bolt to secure it, which with a good hex-sided box wrench to prevent rounding off (unlike the inevitable with a 6mm allen), I never could get it not slip. Yeah, the serrations on some posts always seemed to get the saddle in the wrong position, but maybe that's why I love the upper end Bontragers. Adjust from the side, infinite angles, and no slip. |
