Hello Everyone,

Here is a story I thought you would all enjoy. Couldn't decide if it should go here or in the touring thread, but since he did it on a fixie, it seemed more appropriate here.

The title is "The cycle of his life".
Here is the beginning: "One afternoon last week, 92-year-old Charlie Klotz took me into his garage, where he carefully unwrapped a large plywood board that bears a faded Depression-era map of the United States.

It's one of his most valued possessions: During the summer of 1935, when Klotz was 20, that board chronicled his 3,100-mile trip from Hollister to New York City on a bicycle."

Happy Holidays!

Near Laramie, Wyo., he suffered a charley horse, forcing him to rest his injured leg. He hoisted it over the rear of the bicycle while he climbed 2,000 feet over the Continental Divide with his one remaining good leg fixed in a toe clip.

Interesting story. The few times that I have tried one-legged peddling it was much easier on a fixed gear than on a bicycle with a freewheel. I find it difficult to imagine attempting such a climb on one leg. Would the climb be doable on a freewheel bicycle? (by some fit 20 yr old of course). Just curious, there is no way that I am going to try it.
