View Full Version : 2nd try - Just Riding Around Gallery for 2007
terry b 12-25-2007, 07:20 PM Like a complete and total moreon I posted this over in the Lounge when it was supposed to go here. My hope - that everyone will tag a "just riding around" photo of their bike to this thread.
When I finish a bike I am always careful to take a nice portrait. Not as nice as the famous shots by 55rad, but nice enough - lined up parts, pleasing background, etc. About mid-year I had this idea to shoot a snap of my bikes as they are used. No makeup, no bath, no hairdo, just a real-live, out in the world photo.
So what you won't get are:
White garage doors
Lined up valve stems
Horizontal cranks
What you will get are:
Water bottles
Underseat bags
Dirt
The occasional mismatched tire
Anyway - guys and gals - post a real world shot of your bike. Let's see where you ride and what it looks like when you're riding there.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year,
terry b
edvalds@hotmail.com 12-25-2007, 07:54 PM Terry,

They'll understand. :D
toomanybikes 12-25-2007, 08:11 PM Unlike Terry I don't have pictures of my bikes neatly catalogued and easy to access, so these are not all different bikes.
The last 18 months, these pictures are in Kelowna, Vancouver, Skagway, Jasper, Banff, Ottawa, Tremblant, Montreal, Gatineau National Park, California, Oregon and Washington ........
dead flag blues 12-25-2007, 08:19 PM I really like the lighting on the yellow Strong with the 'ROAD CLOSED' sign. Trying to figure out which pics are from Oregon..
Forrest Root 12-25-2007, 11:18 PM I hate to tell you this, TerryB, but those carbon fiber bikes look like they're about to explode. You should get something that absorbs vibrations better, like titanium.
BTW, your 595 looks lurvly and scandalously succulent. Right now I'm wavering back and forth between getting a black Origin, like yours, or one of the new black and red Origins. My daughter keeps reminding me how much I like red.
Decisions, decisions......
terry b 12-26-2007, 07:06 AM Not to worry about those carbon frames, their outward dimensions are controlled very tightly by a dual-polarity inverse Faraday field. And before I ride them, I do a multi-phasic tachyon scan and adjust the diode emitters accordingly.
As far as that look goes, I think you need this one:

All of mine are from New Messico.
terry b 12-26-2007, 07:08 AM Nice shots, nice snow.
rollinrob 12-26-2007, 08:14 AM Is this another thread to show off your bikes? Boring.

Gee sorry, rob.
Do me a favor, if you haven't already - go ahead and put me on your "ignore" list.
And a Merry Christmas to you too!
innergel 12-26-2007, 12:02 PM I only have a couple of JRA bike pics on this computer, both fixies, strangley enough. First is from the DFW Train Ride last May. Second is at the Superdrome in Frisco, TX this summer.
One good thing about my bikes is I rarely have to worry about them being stolen. No one could reach the pedals.

Thanks terry. Happy New Year to you too.
A very candid post-ride shot of the Eriksen where I leave it in the back yard one night a week so the sprinklers can rinse it off....

We love our bicycles, and bikes in general. I'm just jealous that I have neither the space nor the income to give Terry, Dave, and "Too Many" a run for their money.:D

i took that to mean as they are being used, like in action shots. i was a little disappointed.
nice bikes, show off:p

I'm glad you take the proper precautions before venturing out on your plastic bikes. It's well known they demonstrate alarming changes in entropy.
I may have to reconsider that new black frame. Good eye, Seņor Terry. I do got a hankerin' for the new E-Post.
BTW, is the name E-Post infringing on the trademarked name eRichie?

Nice bikes.
Be careful on the Spicer frame: that seatpost is bent something fierce.

Well, if you don't like lookin' at nice bikes, maybe you ought to go back to bowling or parchese.
Forrest Root 12-26-2007, 09:55 PM Here are a couple of mine....
Nice rides.
Two questions: Does the beard required for riding the 'bent get tangled in your trad bikes' handlebars? What size Birkenstocks do you wear on the 'bent?
innergel 12-27-2007, 05:45 AM Here are a couple of mine....
Dave, did you just move the parts from the Gitane over to the Wiegel? They are virtually identical except for the frame and the rear derailler cable color.
dogma90 12-27-2007, 10:29 AM Terry B, you are da man. I bow in your honor. I only have these humble bikes of mine to offer up for your consideration.......

Forrest Root 12-27-2007, 10:58 AM Nice bikes, but picture resizing can be your friend and make you the toast of the bicycle forum.
dogma90 12-27-2007, 11:10 AM Done. Thanks.
ashpelham 12-27-2007, 11:39 AM I heart this thread.
I have two bikes of my own. A crummy early 90's mountain bike, and a 2005 Cannondale R1000. I will poast piks later on once I get to ride one of them. My wife has a Trek Cruiser and my daughter the usual Trek kids bike, so 4 bikes and two cars in my garage, plus a hot water heater, mini fridge, string trimmer, and a large dog box (for Maddux, the Golden Receiver).
I don't need as many bikes as youse guys, but I sure wouldn't mind! :D
Dave Hickey 12-27-2007, 11:45 AM Ha...They are both built and ridden frequently....they do have similar parts...They both are using 7400 era DA parts.... There are some minor group differences.. The Weigle has dual pivot brakes while the Gitane has single pivot. The Weigle is using some 9 speed 7700 parts like wheels and shift levers(silver instead of dark gray- I still use them for 8 speed shifting)

Well OK then. Two nearly identical bikes (both lovely). :confused5: :out: Has anyone ever told you that you have a serious bike problem? Surely the VERY UNDERSTANDING Mrs Hickey has an inkling rolling around in her head :D
Of course now that I think about it a bit, I could show this thread to Mrs. Gel to prove my bike collection is not that bad. LOL
oarsman 12-27-2007, 01:57 PM Only two bikes, but one has been repainted and S&S coupled, so I think that counts as three (and besides, one of the shots is from a trip to Morocco)
