So earlier this summer I picked up a nice lugged steel bike off eBay. Fits me well, nice backup bike etc.

Later I needed to ship it... went to pull the stem/bars and had enormous problems. Turns out some schmo (maybe even me tho I'm not sure) overtightened the stem bolt and bulged the steer tube. So now it won't tighten again. Shoot.

Any tips on finding a decent steel fork, 1" threaded, race style?

There's always custom makers. Have you done a search on Google or Ebay?
