I know a some are saying that America may not be ready for a female president. I'm pretty sure we are, but I'm curious how Muslim nations will react to a female president. Will she be treated as an equal by Muslim heads of state or will organizations in the middle east use her as another reason to attack us? On a side note, how would they treat a Jewish president?

Most Muslim heads of state at least act moderate, so that should not be an issue. There is quite reasonable gender equality in the gulf states, for example.

And how will that help? Seriously.

Yep great idea.

Never elect a Jewish and/or female president because it may upset foreign cultures/religions.

How about just let those foreign cultures/religion just elect the next president themselves?

Absurd, and dangerous.

Seriously speeking, it wasn't a serious comment, seriously.

Foreign nations including Muslim nations have to deal with the US Secretary of State far more often than the President. Madeleine Albright and Condi Rice have both been effective.

If the dems win this year, Hillary will be the first female VP.

Also, Pakistan has had a female Prime minister. Besides, being President/prime minister of a very powerful nation will break down many barriers!

Yes, I think it is a pointless question since it's politics and while it may gauld some, they deal with the office and not the personality. I don't believe the Dems can win this year, maybe ever. They never learn that idealism plays a minor role in politics. They respond to an Edwards closing argument and think it will sell on the national market and it drives off voters with real concerns and some understanding of what is needed from leadership. The Clintons get it but they are currently having a hard time dancing around the feel good left wing rhetoric and promises. I believe we may see the old guard such as Biden and Dodd who were never serious options anyway, throw their influence behind Hillary to try to salvage the election. If it appears to be too risky, maybe not.

Huh.... I guess it depends on what side of the aisle you support. I didn't think the republicans had a chance--- which was why there were so many freakish candidates in the race--- except for McCaine.

on total vote, Obama, Edwards and Clinton all had more votes than Huckabee

the 2 Iowa front runners are rallying 'morals' voters but are hated by the power brokers of the RNC. The GOP has some serious problems from their strage bedfellows arrangement. They need a lap dog, but one who appeals to the B.D.V.B.

All one has to do is look at how other nations dealt with Great Britain and Germany, both of which had/have women leaders and are major western powers. I don't think it would be an issue.

And that's why I think that, with the right female candidate, her gender won't be a negative issue with the American electorate. I'm more concerned that the gender issue will bring more votes to Hillary than take away.

There have been many female heads of state around the world. Margaret Thatcher, Golda Meir, Indira Ghandi, Michelle Bachelet, Cory Aquino, Kim Campbell, Cristina Kirchner, Benazir Bhutto and many more.

America is behind the times.

Would Monica Lewinsky qualify as a head of state?
