View Full Version : Is Guiliani's strategy working?
eyebob 01-16-2008, 11:05 AM I saw this today from politicalwire.com.
Strategic Vision Poll: McCain Ahead in Florida
Political Wire got an advance look at a new Strategic Vision in Florida poll that shows Sen. John McCain leading the Republican presidential race with 27%, followed by Mike Huckabee at 20%, Rudy Giuliani at 18%, Mitt Romney at 17% and Fred Thompson at 10%
The poll has a margin of error of +/- 4%.
If this is anywhere close to true then it calls into question Guiliani's whole strategy of playing the waiting game and passing on making a serious effort in the early primaries. For that matter, who's Fred Thompson kidding anymore?

Rudy wmiught be bucking for VP...close as he'll get....just like the playoffs it's all about momentum...ignoring the 1st 3 races does nothing but put you into a hole....another reason why should not be Prez, no skillz

I think Rudy blew it. He needed to pay attention to the big mo, of which he has none.

Problem with his number 2 strategy is that he only has a 1 in 3 shot in hell with the three front runners. Romney...never...he has enough baggage. Huckabee...good luck with that Guiliani, dresses, not anti-gay...non starter. The only possiblity (and I would consider it very small) would be McCain...and I don't think he needs a Dick Cheney...he is his own Dick Cheney.
rufus 01-16-2008, 12:31 PM Rudi didn't ifnore them. he dumped a lot of money here in NH on ads and such, but he just never built any support.
This whole.we're waiting til Florida, that was our strategy all along", while it may have some truth to it, it may have been the first state where they really expected to carry, is largely just a lot of excuse-making by the Giuliani campaign for their poor showing so far.
Like the guy who trips and falls down, gets up and says, "I meant to do that".
The more people see of Rudi, the less they like him.
MikeBiker 01-16-2008, 08:41 PM I keep forgetting that Rudi is still running.
jsmst32 01-17-2008, 04:24 AM I sure hopes Mayor Bloomberg decides to run for president. These candidates are weak.

True. And let's throw the press in for some ridicule, since they are clearly playing along and never once mentioning the failed NH campaign and all the money and time spent there. No, Rudy has a virgin campaign in FL, the press says so, it must be true.
atpjunkie 01-17-2008, 07:34 AM out of Duncan Hunter.
he'll stay in because he's the guy the power brokers of the RNC want.
Thompson, geez this dolt was supposed to save the party? He makes both Kerry and Gore look downright engaging.

and what exactly does he bring to the table, besides a chitload of money?
pretty sad when the Wingnuts, or should I say, the Washington political/media established class, gotta try to whip up some kind of phony grass-roots draft Bloomberg campaign because their current crop of losers are so pathetic.
Anyway, why do you need a former Dem like Bloomberg, I thought Grandpa Fred was supposed to be the savior? you know, the second coming of Uncle Ronnie.
