Roger Hammond alluded to this being a winter training kit and to expect something different for the regular season. This was in a VN or CN article about the British CX championships.

No kidding, just like with Disco last year and Caisse d'Epargne, I'd hate to ride the TdF in an all black kit.

I can tell a significant difference here in Texas between a white jersey and a medium-dark maroon jersey I used to race in. It's enough to bother me in a 45 minute crit, can't imagine an 8 hour mountain stage in a black jersey.
