My wife and stopped by our LBS on Friday to check on the status of her Tarmac Expert. She had ordered it a few months ago and had been told, a few weeks ago, that it was a week away from arriving. We weren't holding our breaths, since last year we had heard the same thing a few times with her order of a Roubaix Expert.

We walked in and there she was (the bike, not my wife) hanging next to my Tarmac Expert. They had mine in stock when we came in originally, in the Quickstep colours, but she had to settle for the blue/white. She had really wanted the Quickstep version, but it wasn't available for awhile. Well, after getting her bike down all I must say is...DAMN! I want the blue and white! The photos in the catalogue do not do that bike any justice. The blue is a really nice shade and everything goes great together. My Quickstep version has some ugly reddish verging on rose bar tape and it has red and white tires. I will be replacing the bar tape right away with white and am really contemplating swapping the tires for some traditional black with red trim. The white/red tires are so friggin distracting when I'm riding.

Now it's just a matter of waiting until my wife gets her bonus from work and we'll be taking those babies home. Fitting should be pretty straightforward, since we'll just transfer our measurements from our Roubaix's, we got last year. Only difference will be the saddle to bar drop which will be a bit greater since the Tarmac has the shorter head tube. I know we could match it up exactly, but we want to be lower on our Tarmac's since it's for the more aggressive riding we plan on doing during the week...The Roubaix will be reserved for the longer weekend treks...

Congrats! I was just browsing Specialized's website and noticed the Experts only have one color option now. The Ultegra or the Rival used to have a red and black version. Anyway, it's no longer there. I wonder what's up....???
