Took him for his 2 week checkup today. Blood #'s are all good, he has gained about 3/4lb. Now if we could just figure out what is causing him to vomit like an exorcist victim all would be good. That was the original reason we took him to begin with. The Doc keeps thinking cancer somewhere but she is operating like a parts hanging mechanic, keeps tryong stuff until something gets fixed. I have some new herbal meds to try on him. I have no idea, he has good days and bad no rymn or reason. Food, predisone, mental? No idea.

Is another vet available? May want a second opinion.

Yunnan Paiyao one of them? That's what they have Radar on. Its supposed to be good for the blood #s.
Post a kitty pic.

I'm glad he's doing better overall. I'm sure you guys have discussed hairballs?

I have my old kitty on hairball goo (from the vets, not over-the-counter kind). When she starts to hacking and puking it seems to help if I put her on it for a few days.

Hope Salvatorie continues to improve!
P.S. I think Henry P gave a good suggestion.

I think the thread was "for the love of pets" or something like that. Started out with a visit after he began this vomiting thing and lost about 3 lb. The doc did an xray and blood work, count way down, spleen 4x it's normal size. More tests, more bloodwork, acupunture with B12, herbs, sonogram, special food, $2000 later........now everything is heading in the right direction. The sonogram was negative but she is still talking about cancer of some type, but that was before his blood test came back completely normal today. On top of that he had been "missing" some of his prednisone doses by either spitting them out and I did not see it happen or I was out of town. I wanted to get him off those all together, that may be what the problem is. But they are reduced 50% more today to a 10mg a day, he was at 40.

Changing vets now, do I start all over again? I mean I know we transfer records and such. My sister (her cat anyway) has talked about seeing another renowned vet in the area, we'll see how it goes.

I don't think that means you're necessarily starting over but just seeing if s/he has an ideas on what it could be. Your vet shouldn't be offended, and if they are, toss 'em.

I haven't searched to hear the past story on your cat, but ours is puking and losing weight. The vet did some bloodwork and he has kidney problems. Now he's on a special diet that my wife says has less ash in it and is easier to digest. Seems to be keeping the puking down unless he gets into the other cats bowl.

Is you cat very thirsty - all the time?

The blood tests indicate that all organ functions are absolutely normal, that he is hydrated enough, the tests were full panel so all is normal there. On several tests he showed dehydration signs and she gave him an IV. Initially she wanted a diet change from strictly dry which they (2 cats) ate happily to a combination moist/dry so the diet change took place. Had trouble ever since. They really don't like the moist food much. He yakked again his morning and has not ate anything yet that I know of, I gave his morning dose of anti yak medicine after he yakked so I'll see what the rest of the day holds.

The yaking sucks. And why do they always have to yak on the rugs? We have hardwood floors which are really easy to clean, but the cats always have to go find a rug or sofa to yak on. :mad2: :mad2: :mad2: I wish I could teach our cats to yak in the toilet
