Mettepenningen: 'Mario De Clercq geloofde voor 100 % in Page' Mettepenningen: "Misschien is dat toch niet het juiste woord, want Mario De Clercq geloofde voor de volle honderd percent in Jonathan. Meteen is Mario ook met de neus op de feiten gedrukt dat de Amerikaanse mentaliteit niet de ideale is. Maar we hebben het achteraf fair gespeeld denk ik. Page is mogen blijven tot het einde van deze maand."
Interesting interview in which Mettepennigen states that Page "fell through the ice" the Dutch saying for failure. Mario (DeClercq) had to face that "The American mentality is not the ideal".
End quote. I wonder what Mettepenningen means with the generalisation about "American mentality". Does he include Eric Heiden and Lance Armstrong in these?
Also he states he played it fair in letting Page stay untill the end of the season.
I wonder, Page had a 2 year contract didn't he? I would let them bleed for it, and made them stick to the contract.
BTW The "Belgium mentality" made them loose the WC, by not riding as a team, opposed to Groenendaals work for Boom, despite not riding for Rabobank anymore.
