I'm building a set of off-season cross wheels that I will use to ride some singletrack and fire roads. I'm using Campy Eurus, but that set is going to be a backup for my road bike.

I was thinking of using Record Hubs laced to Ambrosio Nemesis rims with CX-Ray spokes. For those of you who don't know the Nemesis is a Tubular box-section rim, much like the Mavic Reflex.

Any issues running this combo off road? duribility issues?

The Nemesis makes a 255km trip from Compeigne to Roubaix every year over some bad terrain and often wins, so I can't imagine it would be bad for CX. Record hubs are cheaper than DT's, but I have no personal experience with them. Sounds like a good setup.

Why spend all the extra $$ for CX-ray spokes on an off-season singletrack wheelest?

Just curious. I don't see any performance benefit for that application (well they are strong and light) but regular DT spokes will do just fine.

Thanks for the replies, It looks like I'm going to try this combo out.

I chose the CX-Ray because my LBS can get Sapim spokes at really good prices. But I'm not yet 100% decided on spokes
