The Silverton is the all-ti, the Exalt is a mix of carbon and Ti tubing, and the Diablo is all carbon. The ride on all of these bikes is extremely smooth - the ride quality is great over pretty much any road surface. There have been articles in various cycling publications from reviewers far more perceptive than me who all seem to think that the SAS is effective and not just a gimmick - I think there are links to some of these articles on the Sampson website. My brother-in-law has the magnesium frame and also enjoys the ride quality. As far as general quality, I have not had any frame issues with any of my frames - there are another 4 Sampsons in addition to mine in my immediate family and no one has had any issues. In my dealings with Eric Sampson, I sense he takes a lot of time before putting a frame into production and is a stickler for quality control. He does not have the lightest frames, but he will not compromise on durability to save some weight - he'll get you a light bike on careful component selection, if that is your goal. Overall, I think the Sampsons are great values for the product you are getting - if you are comparing to other bikes, make sure you are comparing apples-to-apples on the component quality. Good luck. |
