WONDER LAKE, Ill., Feb. 18 (UPI) -- A Baptist group led by the Rev. Fred Phelps will protest the funerals of two victims of the Illinois campus shootings saying it was God's revenge against gays.

Steven Kazmierczak, 27, opened fire in a geology class last Thursday at Northern Illinois University killing five students and later himself.

Phelps leads members of the Westboro Baptist Church of Kansas who protest the funerals of Iraqi war veterans, claiming their deaths are God's revenge against homosexuals.

A release on the group's Web site says it considers the shootings an act of God, the Arlington Heights (Ill) Daily Herald said Monday.

The group said it planned to protest the funerals of Catalina Garcia and Ryanne Mace because Northern Illinois University hosted a seminar with another preacher who disagreed with Phelps' views.

Is he not dead yet?

His shenanigans are getting really tiresome.

He'll never die as long as people give him more publicity in the news and in these forums.

I don't understand the point of posting anything to do with Phelps. It's not like there's a need to "out" him. It's not like there a ton of Phelps fans in here who need to be told the truth about him. We all have known for years he's a hating psycho. It's not like anyone in this forum was on the fence about him and this story will sway their opinion. And it's not like we can do anything to persuade him to change his ways.
He waits for a news event and hitches a ride for the publicity, and much to his joy, he gets his name in the paper and he gets someone to dedicate another forum topic to him.

With all the partisan political talk dividing us, let's band together for at least one cause, and pledge to refrain from spending any form of human energy on him.

There you go, proof positive that guns don't kill people, God kills people.

Just when I was getting a warm fuzzy feeling that we might actually ALL agree on something, too.

The fuzzy feelings are still there Snake. I was just pointing out the absurdity of their position while getting a dig in on some right wing slogans. :)

Phelps' church really isn't a church. It's mostly made up of his inbred, brainwashed relatives. I wish the press would just ignore the nutjob.
