Anybody have any opinions on deciding between a 2007 Scott S20 (Aluminum with Carbon Seatstays & Fork, full 105 components) and a 2008 Argon 18 Krypton (full carbon and full Rival group)?
I've had too much time to think about this decision, and have been back and forth about 10 times. Both of them are "good deals" as far as price, with the Krypton coming in about $700 more than the S20. The LBS owner says go with the S20 and spend the extra money later on a good pair of wheels, and I'm inclined to believe him, but I just want to make sure I'm not back buying the Krypton in a year or two when I could just spend the extra money now. And, if I do go with the Scott, that it's actually different than what I already have.
Current bike: 06 Specialized Allez Sport (Aluminum w/ Carbon fork, Tiagra/105 components). I really like the road feel/speed/general performance of this bike, but granted, it's my first road bike.
Use for new bike: Crit racing, training (sadly, not with hill climbing, Illinois and all), 75-100 mile rides. This will be my first season racing, but I want something that I can grow with, rather than beyond.
Thoughts?
