Yep, I'm still riding a flat-bar hybrid, and this is one of those questions that I've always been too embarassed to ask...:blush2:

Looks like a good shop, and there's lots of good advice for newbies there

How do you shift gears- up and down- when using the DuraAce shifters?
The ones on the brakes, that is.
This would be for the cassette gears, controlled by the right shifter.
Thanks.

Dura-Ace shifts the exact same as 105, only more expensive! :D

Seriously, I can understand your trepidation, and can only say it is too bad that these forums can be so cruel sometimes. I am glad your question was answered, and right away

I always think in terms of using the large(brake shifter) lever if I want to shift to larger diameter cogs and use the small lever to shift to smaller diameter cogs.

Ms B says thanks for putting it that way!

(things a husband can't seem to get right sometimes)

do you have a dura-ace bike? if you do have one and dont know how to shift then my reply is WOW YOU ARE DUMB. if you dont have a dura-ace STI bike then my response is: welcpme to drop barred bike and hope you learn to to shift, its plenty simple

Neat!

For that matter, it's the same for 105 or Ultegra and a little different for Campy and SRAM but the gist is there.

It is bad form to call someone dumb in the beginner's forum. That is why they call it the beginner's forum. If you don't have the patience, then don't participate.

Just because this is the beginners section doesn't mean you have to resort to insults, much less those that sound like they came from a kid in a playground fight.

To the OP please ignore this guy, he doesn't speak for the rest of us here and don't be afraid to ask away.

Like another poster stated, I've only ridden vintage road bikes, or semi-modern ones with tube-shifters. I just like it that way, and I've test rode Ultegra STI shifter bikes before, and since it wasn't my bike, and I was merely taking it around the block... I didn't want to f*** things up so I never shifted the gears.

Thanks for the fast and courteous replies!

That's how I remember also! :)
