I will be in Secuacus Tue, March 4th, and would like to rent a bike for 3 days. Can anyone help me out? Where can I go to rent a bike?

Thanks
Jim

I hate to be a buzz kill but it sounds like you've never been to Secaucus.

Secaucus is built primarily on swampland. It is dominated by a large train yard and numerous warehouses/distribution centers. The roads are straight, flat and populated primarily by large tractor/trailers. Anything is possible but based on what we've been experiencing the last week, the weather will be cold (it's 17 degrees this morning).

I can't imagine a worse place to ride. (OK, I can imagine worse places to ride, Baghdad comes to mind, but Secaucus is pretty bad.) I'd stick to the hotel gym.

Sorry, I don't know any place to rent a bike.

Pretty much agree with Dumbod on this one. While there may be one, I can't really think of a good shop in Secuacus or nearby (e.g. Jersey City, Hoboken, etc.) without crossing the river to NYC. You might contact www.strictlybicycles.com : they are a serious shop in Fort Lee, which is a few miles north, near the GW Bridge. Good luck and be careful riding around there!

The weather in Secaucus will be in the 40's and 50's next week, it's warming up! But it isn't the best riding. Imagine riding on filled in landfills. It's swamp land, flat roads, traffic, lots of junk on the edge of the road. Any bike shop would be nuts to loan you a bike to ride there. But you can take the train west of Secaucus and ride in some really nice areas like Chatham. There is a bike shop in Chatham but I don't know if they loan bikes. Chatham is a small town that you can walk around and the train station is 1 or 2 blocks from the bike shop and the center of town. From there you head south for some really nice riding.

Secausus cant be too far from 9w for a Hudson River ride.

It depends on your definition of too far.

As the crow flies, you're right - about 10 miles away. Getting there is another question however. The quickest way would be to take I-95 north to the George Washington Bridge. The kicker is traffic. It could easily take 30-45 minutes each way.

I ride 9W all the time but there's nothing all that special about it except its proximity to the city. Henry Hudson Drive runs through the park underneath the bridge is much nicer (much less traffic, better views, more hills)

I still wouldn't bother but if you're really determined, contact 3rd Nature that advertises on this site. They might be able to point you in the right direction.
