Hey guys, looking to get clipless pedals and some road shoes. I did a search in the review section for some of the shoes I'm looking at and can't seem to find any information on these shoes. Can anyone tell me if you have any experience with them? I'm looking at going to Performance after work today:

BTW, if I'm a 7.5-8 mens US shoe size...what size should I be looking at?

with shoes, even more so than with other things. Try 'em on. Ideally, you want them easily adjustable from a little loose to quite snug, since you feet will change with different conditions (even during a ride).

As for size, you'll likely be around 40 or 41, but they vary.

Have you ever worn real cycling shoes and clipless pedals? You're in for a treat, once you get 'em dialed in.

Yeah, I would really recommend against ordering shoes online. I think the best thing you can do is go to your LBS and try on a few different pairs in your price range. If you're relatively new to cycling, like me, I don't think you'll care about a lot of the 'features' and stuff. Just get a pair that, like JCavilia said, you can adjust a lot to fit your feet depending on conditions.

And yes, you are in for quite the treat. I used my shoes about 10 times on my trainer before I got them outside due to the weather. Wow. That would have been funny to watch.

Thanks for the advice guys, I went to my LBS and tried on a few different pairs of Cannondale and a few pairs of Shimano's in my price range (sub 100). I really liked these:

But they didn't have it in my size. I ended up ordering them online on Friday night when I got back and the price went form $70 on Friday to $150 now...glad I ordered them. :)

Just as a matter of etiquette, it's considered cheesy to use the shop for your pre-purchase research,, then order the merchandise online. Doesn't sound like you did it on purpose here, but shoes are a good example: If you take up the shop's time figuring out what's going to work for you, courtesy requires you buy SOMETHING. Tubes and patch kits are a good choice--you'll always use them, and they don't cost much (not enough to help the shop, really), but at least you're showing support and appreciation.

If I understand his first post correctly, his "LBS" is a Performance store. If I'm correct, he didn't really pull that one, which I agree would be cheesy.

Thanks for the help JCavilia. Yes, the bike store I went to was the Performance Bike store. I was hoping to go into the store and just try them on and pick them up, but they didn't have the size I was looking for. I ended up buying them online and had them shipped for $0.29 shipping (not bad at all). I love the Performance Bike shop, but their online shipping takes forever...shoes finally arrived today. Fits like a glove...can't wait to try them on.

Do yourself a favor and get some top quality socks. Regular old Hanes from walmart are OK for everyday use, but invest in a couple pairs of good socks for cycling. It makes a big difference!
