Hello all,

so I'm stuck between two extremes. I have a PRO Condor saddle and its incredibly comfortable when I'm sitting back away from the nose. BUT it has a rather downward pointing nose which I find uncomfortable, especially compared to my SLR flat nose on my other bike.

Have any of you had any experience in heating the plastic and bending the nose to a straighter position?

advice needed

thanks a bunch

This would require more than "shade tree mechanic" skills. First, you would have to bend the saddle rails as well, and somehow do it so that it matched the desired "bend" in the saddle nose. Then, you'd have to have a mold of some sort so that you could uniformly bend the saddle nose, and you'd have to figure out how to apply the heat so that the thing would not be soft in one spot and still hard in another. You'd also have to somehow redo the saddle covering, and perhaps the foam as well. Good luck with all that.

I don't think it's possible to bend the nose by heating. I presume part of the rail is fastening to the nose. Maybe you need the SLR on both bikes.

Never tried it, but all you can do is ruin a saddle. I wouldn't try it with a new, $200 saddle, but maybe get an old one out and experiment. I'm kind of intrigued by the new SMP strike saddles with their extreme downward pointed nose. It looks weird, but a lot of people are amazed by their comfort. Maybe I'll try it too. I know I've got a bunch of oldies lying around, where's my torch?

It's possible that a quantum fluctuation event could occur near the nose of your saddle causing either local heating which might allow you to bend the thing or a change of quantum state for a significant number of atoms in the saddle nose, resulting in a spontaneous transition of a new physical orientation.
