Had a great time at this race last weekend and it was probably the best run race I have done all year. I was talking with a guy who is in the Front Rangers (the club that promoted the race) and he said they had collected a total of 159 primes for the day. After racing the Cat 3 race, I believe it. We had a prime every lap, some laps had two primes, and this was in addition to the $900.00 cash for the final lap placings 15 deep. All in all it was the best race I did all year.

Saw a weird thing in the 45+ race though. Some guy from GS Boulder moved right and bumped some guy on Front Rangers. No big deal, the guy from the Front Rangers held his line and pushed the GS Boulder guy away with his elbow. Now is when it got weird. The GS Boulder guy starts threatening to crash the Front Ranger guy if he 'touches' him again. The Front Ranger guy basically tells the GS Boulder guy to piss off and they yell at each other for the next hundred yards or so and the GS Boulder guy wants to fight after the race. From what I saw it was the GS Boulder guys fault and the Front Ranger guy was just holding his line. Anyway, cracked me up to see a couple of 45+ riders carrying on like this.

are always a volitile mix and you always have a lot of both at races.

If the rider did intentionally try to wreck your teammate, I would file a greivance and try to get the guy barred from racing. If it would of result in a fight, both parties should be barred from racing. There should be no tollerance for those behaviors.

Yelling and screaming is not uncommon in the peloton and nothing to worry about. But it should never result in intentional attempts to wreck the other party or fighting afterwards.

It's best to walk away from such conflicts regardless of who is right or wrong. Things happen so fast, and your personal perspective is so skewed that it is tough to know for sure who is at fault.

PS: Even us old folks have egos and a little adrenelin left.

Neither one is a teammate of mine. I just happened to be two riders back and just shook my head while it all transpired. It was so weird, and really pretty funny, seeing them carry on like that. Fortunately they both settled down on the back straight and returned their focus back to the race. Didn't hear about any fights after the race either.

On a side note I think the Front Ranger guy had the last laugh because he beat the GS Boulder guy in the sprint.
