Ok, so a lot of you may laugh at this, but I thought I'd share it because it was a personal triumph for me. I've been wearing bike shorts for a long time now but have always worn something on top of it. Either workout pants or some type of jogging pants. It's worked out well since it's been so cold in VA. Yesterday was the first time I biked in 60 degree weather and I've been listening to other people say just try the bike shorts with nothing on top. I was a bit embarrased, scared, and apprehensive at first. I must say I really enjoyed it. It makes the experience so much nicer. Honestly, after 2-3 hours on the bike, I could really care less what other's say. So...for those of you who haven't done it yet, try it. It's much nicer not to have all that friction between you and the bike!

Word up. I got into road riding via skatebaording and mountain biking. I remember how embarrased I was to just wear spandex at first. It was a big step for me as well.

If you continue to be embarrassed, you can always go the sock route. (just be sure to use extra cream in that region as to not chafe) :D

Good job. All my mtb friends laughed at me when I went spandex on the mountain bike. But I was more comfortable and lot cooler for it. Now I ride both road and mtb with 'em.

It's a bold, gutsy move, but it pays off. Good on ya.

I love spandex. I use em when I run track as well. Spandex all the way baby!

Welcome to the world of spandex.

Hahahaha, I've always worn the spandex on the bottom of my shorts in almost every sport I play. The problem I had was wearing the spandex ALONE. I'm getting a lot of crap from my wife and friends right now...but honestly, after 3-4 hours on a bike, I don't really care.

Consider this....we get a bunch of crap for wearing spandex bike shorts.....but what does "joe Nascar" think his football teams pants are made out of....?????? They sure look like spandex to me......with pockets for HARD padding to hide the inadequacies...LOL......

my girlfriend actually likes the shorts  I remember when I first started cycling I thought the spandex was wierd and revealing so I biked with my basketball shorts... The only problem was that in that position while pedalling they would creep up and almost expose my junk anyways. that got old fast and I've proudly donned my spandex ever since.

I still often wear a short over spandex on the MTB. My dirt head friends still mock my spandex wearing ways but at least i'm not 'that guy' at the bar having a pint dressed like that. :blush2:

a couple pairs of expensive MTB shorts don't provide nearly the protection and comfort the spandex does....

Just wait till you start wearing them to the office.
