Hey Bikers..
Last year i purchased a carbon roubaix elite...
i went into the same bike this year.. and i told him i wanted to upgrade my bike... he said the most noticeable difference i will see is with new rims... Mavic Open Sport, double wall rim, machined sidewalls w/ eyelets is what my bike has now.... are new rims the right decision? if so i am willing to spend 800 max.. but would rather be in the 600 range unless 800 will bring me to much better level.... please help

you have to wait more than 38 minutes to bump something.

Clincher? Tubular? carbon? Aluminum (gonna be hard to find $300 al rims)? aero? wheels or just rims?

Anyways, what do you want out of your wheels? if its durability, then, in my experience, the open sports are great. If you want something lighter, more aero, and funner to look at, then you can get some sweet handbuilts in the 600 range.

$600-$800 is going to get you some nice handbuilt complete wheels. You keep stating rims. How about kinlin or niobium 30's. ~$60 a piece for the rims. openpro's also are a nice solid training set. but will you notice that over opensport? I don't know.

i was looking at the mavic KsyriumThey are fine if you want factory wheels. Nothing special but nice wheel.s For that price you could get soem hand-built wheels with DT Swiss, White Industries or even Tune hubs with nice bladed spokes and Niobium 27mm or 30mm rims.

Just as nice if not overall better and cheaper. Here is an expamle of my DT Swiss/Niob 30mm we have -
