Why do you suppose the Reverend Wright is cancelling all of this dates to speak publically? Do you take him at his word, such as it is, because of security concerns? Or is it a sinister plot by the Obama campaign to shut him up?

HOUSTON---- The Rev. Jeremiah Wright, presidential candidate Barack Obama's controversial former pastor, has canceled plans to speak at three services at a Houston church on Sunday, the church's pastor said.

The Rev. Marcus Cosby, pastor at Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church, told Houston television station KTRK and the Houston Chronicle that safety concerns had prompted Wright's decision.

Cosby told the Chronicle that Wright cited three reasons for canceling: ''the safety of the institution to which he has been invited; the safety of his family, which has been placed in harm's way; and for his own safety.''

I read that as "request for rampaging speculum."

Perhaps I need to spend less time going through Microfilm...getting dizzy.

I make myself a new tin foil hat every morning and fit it to the inside of my cycling cap. I'm safe at work indoors (that is till they come out with the cameras in your cable box that will be used for "direct marketing") because I'm surrounded by asbestos and lead paint, thanks to he ancient building I'm in.

This is just speculation, but I heard there was the threat of sniper fire, which is a legitimate safety concern.

I'd say a short break is in order at the very least.

It would be a much more interesting post with the dizzy version, but it would progbably get moved to the lounge

Oh, it's definately speculation. I was just wondering if anyone in PO was engaging in it. I could go either way on it at the moment. It does seem convienent, that a courageous outspoken guy like Wright is suddenly concerned about security. Having written that, there are alot of nuts out there, and I'm sure nobody wants to put innocent church folks in jeopardy. Like I said, I could go either way on it.

I stopped when I started reading the ads and not the articles.

While going through the international herald tribune today Jan-Feb 1934.

Saw one ad for a menthol cigarette. There was a hot chick in bed reading a book while smoking...the ad's line was.

Smoking Menthol cigarettes keeps you going through the last chapter!

The snipers in the hills above Houston would love to bag a Reverend, just as much as they would love to bag Sinbad. Whatever happened to Sinbad, anyway?

He was killed in Bosnia...Hillary used his corpse as a human shield in her left hand while wielding a submachine gun in her right in order to get her, Chelsea and Sheryl out. It was the least he could do for his country in those terrible, dark days.

Hillary doesn't like to talk about it...much like most war veterans.

How incredibly ironic, considering he played a Secret Service agent in the classic film First Kid.

Yeah, I didn't expect the speculation going in quite that direction. But, I suppose when you title a thread as I did, you've got to expect a certain "rampantness."

This is the sort of thing you've got to have fun with. You know, make it your own.

Sort of makes you think the copy writer had something other than books in mind.

Ain't that the truth.

And graphically, women's thingies seemed like they were really pointy or something. Ah, the good ol' days. Proper subtext, pointy thingies, and menthols all night long baby, yeah!

Thanks Joe,

That gave me a great laugh. I'll be forwarding that around to the mates for the next hour so so.

Only about half of the image was viewable on my monitor when I first opened the post. I wasn't exactly sure how it was going to be relevant. I saw the cig and I thought hey that ain't a menthol, and I new from the style that it wasn't going to be a pointy bra. So it made it even funnier when I scrolled down and read the copy.

Looks like the still new the proper use of subtext in the 70's too. I'm still laughing.

That is some funny funny sheet. Thanks again.

Dude, c'mon. Low blow. Everyone knows to deter snipers all you need is a comedian, a rock star and a daughter.
