JoeDaddio 03-27-2008, 12:17 PM Thief! Thief! I am outraged and appalled. I think he needs to denounce and detest (or whatever) himself from this speech!

"...it is wretched beyond all description. When nations seek to resolve their differences by force of arms, a million tragedies ensue"
"Not the valor with which it is fought nor the nobility of the cause it serves, can glorify war."
IMO, the truth of the words outweigh any dispute over originality.McCain or anyone else can plagerized the entire thing, word for word, as long as the actions reflect the words.

Maybe I needed a  face in my post. I was using false outrage there. Just looking to those who attacked Obama for plagiarizing will attack McCain for plagiarizing.

Nothing in my post was intended to counter your post. I clicked on your link and was more surprised at the subject matter than the controversy itself. If McCain really believes what was said, and intended to act on it, I'd be glad. But he seems to want to be the war hero candidate and then become the war president. Seems to me, if he wants to avoid the destruction and senselessness of war, he'd start by getting the players straight.
JoeDaddio 03-27-2008, 01:19 PM Bam!
UPDATE: It appears that Ziemer’s speech may have been plagiarized from McCain. According to the McCain campaign, the senator used these lines before Ziemer — in 1995. We regret the error.

Creakyknees 03-27-2008, 01:27 PM Is it wrong to plagiarize yourself? Even if you've been looking at podium girls?
DrRoebuck 03-27-2008, 02:42 PM Bam!
ROFL!
(I'm referring to your source of the quote.)
DrRoebuck 03-27-2008, 02:43 PM I will just add that it's highly commendable how quickly they printed the correction and the explanation.

Live Steam 03-27-2008, 06:43 PM Yup. They're better at it than the NY Times, that's for sure.

was when Bill Kristol made some quip to JohnStewart about how people see John Stewart and Stewart replied "and it could be said that people see you as the guy
that came up with this whole war"
