Finally got a little time to get out for a short bicycle ride here. Had the recycling can full of crushed aluminum cans in the garage, had the BOB trailer hanging nearby, had the MTB commuter sitting there saying "let's go for a ride", had some time, so off we went. Outside temp was around 35*F. Total miles was probably between 6-12 miles, first stop was the recycling yard to trade cans for cash, second stop was the pharmacy to put in an order, then I just meandered home via the harbor while dragging the trash can around on the BOB. I can only imagine what people thought.

A few miles later I arrive at the small shopping center where there is a Piggly Wiggly grocery store which is struggling against competition from a bigger newer store across the street

there is also a Wal-Mart which is about to be replaced by a bigger newer Super WalMart across the street, which will further affect The Pig

and here's the Walgreens drug store, which seem to be as plentiful around here as 7-11 stores are elsewhere in the country, I have no idea what the pharmacist thought as I pulled up to the drive-thru window on the bicycle towing a garbage can, he kept a straight face so I didn't take a pic of him

And here's the road back, which parallels the road I took to get here, but with much more traffic and higher speeds, and where the traffic has a habit of driving in the bicycle lane to pass left turning traffic on their right without much thought of any pedestrians or bicyclists who might be using the bicycle lane, I survived

And today I learned something new about the BOB and this MTB commuter. I learned I have to release the wheel and push it forward out of the dropouts to get the BOB to drop down over the BOB axle and to clear the fender/rack bolting setup. Not sure yet what I'm going to do about this, but it does sort of work as a makeshift anti-BOB-theft device, sort of.
