As promised, I took a few photos while cycling in Catalunya region of Spain. Catalunya is the winter home for a few of the pro racers, and after two days of cycling in this area I can certainly see why.
I am cycling this week with Thomson Bike Tours who is based in Sitges, Spain. Sitges is a small coastal town just West of Barcelona. I failed to get any photos during my first ride, as I left my camera at the hotel.
Day two started a bit late, as Sunday breakfast isn’t served until 08:00. The group ride started from the Calipolis hotel in Sitges, and made a 100 km loop toward the foothills of the Pyrenees. I didn’t start shooting any photos until a good hour into the ride, and several hundred metres of elevation into the mountains. The weather was really nice for cycling, at a cool 50 F.

About three hours into the ride we stopped at a local café for a java fix and snacks.

After the coffee break it was all downhill back to the beach.

Back at the hotel I had a nice view of the local antique car parade.
Just another great day of vacation!

Looks like some terrific riding. Spain is a hilly place, isn't it? I don't suppose you will be able to get terribly high into the mountains at this time of year. Are you just there for cycling or are you planning to spend some time seeing Barcelona?

Wow, it really looks like where I lived in Sardinia. Dry climate with lots of vineyards and small villages.
You planning on storing any blood in preparation for those big summer events? :D
Sure does look like a nice place to get in some nice dry spring riding.
Why do I live in Seattle, when places like that exist? Man our winter is dragging on like a 800 pound marlin! How cold does it get in that part of Spain in the winter? Maybe next year..................Thanks MTT

No cycling in the Pyrenees planned for this holiday. This is a conditioning trip to prepare for a Trans Pyrenees ride in June.
I'm planning on 14 Days of cycling. My wife arrives next week, so I'll be doing some sightseeing during the afternoons. It's a 35 minute train ride to central Barcelona from where I'm staying in Sitges.

Only big summer cycling event planned is the Trans Pyrenees ride in June. I am starting to think about doing the Dolomite ride after the TP challenge, but I’m not sure it will work into my schedule.
It’s been a dry winter in the Catalunya region of Spain. That being said, it poured down rain most of last night. Thankfully, it was clear and sunny for today’s ride. Check out the photos.
Best of luck planning your Germany trip. I'm looking forward to seeing the photos!

Awesome looking place to cycle. Those grape vines have to be ancient with the size of the trunks.

Looks like some serious cyclists, not for the slowww.
Is every one on an Orbea? Does the tour company provide Orbea's to ride?
Thanks,

All but myself and one other rider rented Orbea bikes from Thompson. The Orbea bikes are all less than 3 years old.
The riders are of various abilities. The fast group is averaging 26 to 27 kph for a 120 km ride with 1500 metres of climbing.
