What computer training software do you all use for putting together your own training log? I've been using VidaOne for a while but it's scope is very limited. I've been dabating on creating my own web page and sql db with all the fields I'd want but I wouldn't be able to upload with my polar HRM..

It would be nice if there were a simple program geared more towards cycling.

I've looked around and some of the options are pretty expensive. Some are pretty cheap but junk.. Any suggestions?

and I don't wanna play with excel... hahaha.

It's $100 but worth every penny. It's by far the most common among coaches & pros I know. Interfaces directly to most hardware devices.

Besides, the $ cost is nothing compared to the hours spent training. And if you aren't training that much, why bother... ;)

I don't have power as a training tool.. will WKO+ still be worth it?

Take a look at Sport Tracks. (do a google search) I have found it superior to Garmin's Training Center. Plus, it's free.

IMO, yes, for cpl reasons:

Even without power it has a whole lot of flexibility & data crunching features (you can manually create workouts you did not record, you can aggregate data from multiple devices & import files out of vendor-specific s/w, you can use the PMC features based on HR if you invest some time in it).

It gives you a totally migratable database so that if/when you do start training with power you can see all the previous non-power workouts in the same application without being tied to the PM vendor's software.

They are continuing to develop & improve the s/w and from what I have seen WKO has a VERY knowledgeable team of folks pushing the product forward.

I think they have a free 2 week trial that you can get on their website, go to www.trainingpeaks.com to learn more. They also have a blog & forum that you can peruse to see what people are up to with the s/w.

And of course if you are in SV area, stop by our studio and I'll give you the tour of it. Watch the RBR Pro Review Section as we are planning a S/W video review sometime in the next few weeks as a follow up to the PM reviews.
