I have never done a group ride...with the exception of 3 or 4 people. A local group was doing a ride today, and said it is not a "no drop" ride and the pace will average 14.5mph.
I live in Germany and the country is very hilly and my average today was 14.4, by myself. My question is, your average pace solo, would equate to a faster group ride pace....right?

Correct

My wifes pace in the same area is about 13.8 or so...would it be safe for her to join this particular group ride?

I would say so. I wouldn't worry too much since it's advertised as a "no drop" ride.

Yeah, I agree and I do not worry so much...my wife does. My thoughts are "who cares if we get dropped, we will still ride...and be stronger the next time out". She doesnt like the thought of being dropped though.

Well... that's the whole point of a "no drop" ride... someone (perhaps the entire group) will wait for you and ride with you.

They might slow down when you do, or there may be pre-defined points on the route to stop and re-group. But, you will not be left alone on the roads to find your way back.

These rides are designed for beginners as an easy transition... enjoy.

They said it was not a "no drop" ride. They offered maps on how to get home as well. I am not worried about getting dropped. We live in Germany for the next 2 years, so getting lost is like exploring to me anyway. But, I really don't think this group would have dropped us anyway....convincing my wife is the trick I am trying to figure out.

Well, you're not going to drop the wife, and you'll have a map. Just sayin'.

The only dumb question is the one that goes unasked.

Ooops sorry, mis-read the OP.

In that case... take a map!
