View Full Version : Cleveland Ohio: Looking For a Commute Buddy
Just thought I'd throw this out there just incase someone is lurking I don't know.
I am looking for a commuting buddy to ride from the east to the west in the morning and/or Vice Versa.
I live in Lakewood and work in Mayfeild Village.

Detroit from Lwood to e13th to Chester to Mayfeild Rd. (Little Italy) to Montecello all the way to Richmond Rd, Highland and then to Rt91.
Yes I work for the Behemoth.
Oh I am making the commute mostly free but I did try fixed.
daf311 04-17-2008, 09:10 AM I grew up in Cleveland too. That's a good way to go. The hill up Mayfield from Little Italy is a nice one.

Ya it is nice I have been pushing 48x16 p it, gonna try 52x16 this week.
Just discovered that the echlid corridor from DT to univerisity circle has a bike lane going each way. Now I can skip chester which was by far the most dangerous part of my commute,

Ya but on a bike you can just ride in between the orange barrels.
Do you know about bike night at a bar called now that's class? Ride your bike you get a free beer on thursday nights. I am going tonight. PM if you are interested.
gburkhol 05-02-2008, 06:18 PM I'm going to start commuting from Parma to E152nd and Euclid, but thats more of a SW to NE (we might cross paths though).
Swiped from my buddy's blog at:

Check out this recent story by Sarah Hollander from cleveland.com, which ran on 4/11/08:
Rideshare seeks to link bicycle commuters
Bicycle commuters can now search for fellow riders through OhioRideshare, a program heretofore focused on matching carpoolers.
By creating an account at www.OhioBikeBuddies.com, cyclists can see if anyone is traveling at similar times and to similar destinations. Users can indicate whether they prefer a male or female companion and would communicate directly through email.
Because this is a new feature it might take a while before the database grows and matches are available. The program's organizers encourage users to revisit the site frequently.
Also this Yahoo! Group might be useful: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/heightsriders/ Or there is a large group ride at Spin bike shop on Weds nights where ya might find a riding buddy.

Thanks for the info. I live very close to Spin so I know all those guys. The problem with the Wednesday rides is riding a SS with a tall gear, well they frown upon that.
The Ohio Bike Buddy site is good too but nobody on it goes all the way from lakewood to the far east side.
I'll be commuting Monday so if you see a green Langster that says Special Ed on the downtube say hi my name is Scott. I take Echlid all the way from DT to Mayfeld Rd. I should be through that way from 6AM to 7AM.
daf311 05-04-2008, 04:33 PM A nice alternative to Murray Hill would be to turn right on Cornell off of Euclid.Cornell runs into Edgehill, which puts on onto Overlook in Cleveland Hts. Eventually, you'll have to cut over to Mayfield.

Just looked at the map. I'll try that way tomorrow. Thanks for the info.
