Anyone have any sources for 700c skinwall tires?

I know about Paselas, roly-polys and grand bois, but I'm looking for something a little more performance oriented.

Thanks to the retro resurgance, there are some options for skinwall clinchers. That's good. I only have 2 pairs of Michelin Hi-Lite SuperComps skinwalls left and when those are gone, I'll go with one of these:

and they wore out very very quickly and punctured easily - sadly I don't remember the model. Try the Veloflex..............

I think Vittoria also offers an Open Corsa CX with a tan sidewall. Probably easier to find than the Veloflex.

You can buy Vredestein Fortezzas in size 700x25 with tan sidewalls, but the tan strip is pretty narrow. These are very nice rolling tires, however. I've got the Performance Fortezzas with blue sidewalls in 700x23 on my Merckx AX, and they are nice riding tires. They don't wear as long as Michelin Pro Races but roll just as nice.

I've got Panaracer Pasela TG with kevlar belts on my commuter bike, and they are reasonably light but roll much slower than Michies or Vreds. They ride very nice but they're slow.

a few yrs back I got some high-threadcount Clements with a 'true' skinwall... you know, the kind that got permanently discolored after riding in the rain. I wish there was still a source for these. Veloflex Records would be another good choice, but $$$

Veloflex Pave or Master are an excellent race tire, open tubulars. Do not expect huge mileage out of them. Veloflex Record I'd save for TT only, it's not made to last it's made to be fast. These all get discolored after some wet rides. GP3000/4000 with tan walls will last longer than any of the Veloflex but are also much worse in ride quality.

Buy the Veloflex from Probikekit. They offer the cheapest price you'll find anywhere and shipping is free from the UK. I had purchased around 7-8 pairs of tires from them before; including three pairs of Veloflex Pave.
