I have an early 90's Specialized Allez steel frame. Was going to sell it, but I was shocked at what a new steel frame with lugs goes for nowadays.. I am thinking about having it repainted. Anyway, I currently have a 1" threaded headset. Can I simply swap that out for a 1" threadless headset?

you'll need a new fork w/ 1" steerer, 1" threadless headset (both relatively rare) and new stem + spacers... if it fits ok, why bother?

I hate to hijack this thread, but are there any brands in general that one would reccomend for a threaded headset? I've been debationg on changing my stem length and the drop height at once, and the Nitto headsets at Rivendell seem like the best place. Opinions?



Chris King still produces threaded headsets. 1" and 1 1/8"
