And goodness only knows when I will get to see it.

A long time " I really want one of those", the De Rosa Primato. EL/OS tubing and the De Rosa ride.

One came up on eBay recently, in my size. So to quote a forum member from another circumstance, I bought it.

Only problem is that the seller wouldn't ship outside the lower 48. I arranged to have him ship to a very understanding friend.

It arrived today and the understanding friend took some pictures for me.

I really want to head south and build it, and ride it. Working for a living sucks.

The seller had gone to a carbon fork at some point, so the frame came with the carbon fork and a Chris King threadless headset, as well as the original De Rosa steel fork and a campy threaded headset.

The Carbon one, and related headset will be going the way of the dodo bird.

Now, if I can just be assured that I can actually get my hands on it at some point - I'll be a happy guy.

I'd kill the carbon fork too...It always amazes me when I see a classic steel bike with an "upgraded" carbon fork....

It's like putting spinners on a Porsche 356

TMB- That's a beauty. EL/OS is one of the best steel tube sets made and the last one to see massive use by the pro's before their changeover to other materials. I like the little gussets by the BB shell. I hear you on the lower 48 bit. Having lived offshore for 10 years now, my in-laws, sister and friends are once again telling me that they're full up until my next short term job in the States. And definitely drop that carbon fork. That being said, I did have one of my custom steel frames spec's with a carbon fork but with a De Rosa, what's the point?

b21Like I told toomany, I'm checking into a femur elongation. He may not ever see the frame.

And b21, just keep digging. I have something special in store for you.

I had a Guerciotti in EL/OS and just loved the ride of it. Beautiful bike, light and just smooth as silk.

It was to be shipped to the same location where I think this one will live, so I will have an EL/OS bike, but this will be the De Rosa ride.

I'm pretty excited about it and have managed to put together almost a fll set of Chorus 9 speed to go on it.

I also recently bought a Coppi frame and fork done in Genius, which is just stupidly light, but I told will support my magnificent weight.

Will be interesting to see the ride of the Coppi compared to the de Rosa, and the De Rosa compared to the Guerciotti.

It's a great tubeset. However my frame came with a unicrown fork and it was a compact design (from 1992) so I went the modern route. I repainted it white (was yellow), added carbon fork, Ti stem and seatpost (shown here with a carbon post that I later replaced).

I wouldn't do that to that DeRosa though...
