Hi Guys,

First post. I found this cool looking frame burried in the 'rents garage.

I think this might make a good single speed. It is in consideratly bad shape, lots of scratches, and it would need some bucks put into it: (drop handlebars, stem , seat tube, green nailpolish and maybe new brake levers) I think it would be a good investment if it isn't too far gone. As i've wanted to try single speed for a while

single speed on my mountain bike would be torture for me but I think SS for a comuter is a good place to start.

this thing is later 70's early 80's, It has 26 inch wheels so I might be able to swap in some other wheels however I'll have to check the drop d\to dropout spacing, I know its not the lightest bike but I at least want it to look fast...How much $ should I drop on making this artifact ridable

wow almost 50 views and not one comment...

so for the past couple days I have been hitting the stem and fork interface with liquid wrench from the top and bottom. I think that I have done as much as I can to it chemically.

I don't care if I destroy the stem/handlebars...I've seen on somewebsites people hacking off the stem and using a punch to knock the steerer tube of the fork down. Also advised me not to try to twist it off as I will probably damage the fork. I don't yet own a hack saw so should I just go to work with a hammer and start hammering down on the stem to knock it loose?
