Are you bitter and clinging onto your gays?

Are you bitter and clinging onto your gays?Actually, my gays tell me that I'm sweet when I cling to them.

I would assume she has only recently had a problem with it since she started staking out the blue collar vote.

Or maybe it could be some other reason. I'm sure the Globe has thoroughly researched the issue.

Her working class supporters don't care about gay issues? Maybe some of her supporters are even anti-gay????

They've got other "g", "h", "r" and "$" issues. :)

So, she uses Elton John to raise a couple million dollars and she has a problem with gays:confused:

I don't think she has a problem with gays. She is pretty good on the issues, and speaks with the gay media. She does not talk about gay issues to general audiences while Obama does, but that is not what I was talking about.

My question was quite literal: why does she have trouble SAYING the word GAY when talking about gay issues to a gay media reporter?

who cares, she won't be preznit... or even the nominee.

I would guess it's some kind of clintonesque triangulation™, so as to not offend the "Jesus don't like queers" demographic.

You might recall how gays in the military was a big thing in Bill Clinton's first term.

You may also recall that the idea went over like a lead balloon.

I'm guessing that she really doesn't want people to remember that issue- Anti gay people will use it against her (she tried to kuh-weer up our Army!), while it will remind gay people just how strong the Clinton's resolve was when it came to their civil rights- don't ask, don't tell, anyone?

Basically, she's got very little credibility on the issue on either side of the fence. Best she can hope for is that no one brings it up in a debate. And considering the quality of the debates so far, she's getting her wish.

Come to think of it I haven’t heard her use the word heterosexual lately either. That’s it you convinced me my vote is now going to Obama or McBush.

Well, if she did not say it when being interviewed by a show on the "hetersexual network" for a story about issues of interest to the heterosexual community, you might have a point.

Did you read the link? I'm guessing no.

As usual you guessed wrong.

“Why does Hillary have a problem with the "g" word?”

She doesn’t, this is a spin worthy of fox news, and before you say I don’t have compassion for gays think again. My oldest son is gay so I know a little about gay compassion.

The bigger problem is that it looks like she is afraid of the possible repercussions of speaking to her general audience about gay rights. Gays have been discriminated against and are targets of beatings. This is a problem. Taking a stand for gay rights only when speaking to a gay audience is preaching to the choir. It isn't addressing the problem, unless gays are the ones who are dishing out the beatings.
It's the people who are discriminating or those who don't think the discrimination is a problem who need to hear the message. But I suspect Hillary figures it would hurt her electability more than it would help, and for her, that is the only factor worth considering.

As usual? Well, since you make the claim, why do you give me some other examples of me "guessing wrong"? It should not be a problem for you to back up your claim if this is a "usual" thing for me, right?

If you had read the link, and watched the video, it is pretty clear she stumbles over saying the word.

Personally, I think that is a generational issue, not one of attitude. Boomers grew up way before "gay" was a common term or many people were out of the closet. Gen X actually started to see gay people on TV ("Soap" had billy crystal's gay character in 1977, which was the first open and honest portrayal of a gay man on network), and saw a lot of activism and discussion in the 80's. The younger generation (millennials) have grown up with gay people existing publicly since they were aware of the world.

But she does seem to have a pause at least when she says it.

And as Jesse has pointed out, if she does support gay rights (and I do think she does) she does not seem to have to courage of her convictions to take that message where it might hurt her. Typical political behavior.

Call that spin if you want. But I am just calling it like I see it.

As far as using the word “Usual” well this is the second time you have suggested I didn’t read the link or watch the video. Just because I came away with a different take doesn’t mean I didn’t read the link. Maybe the word “usual” was a little off but. . . . .

You’re wrong again.

Personally I think this “problem with the g word” is just another spin to make something more than it is, her record on working with gay rights speaks for itself.

and that’s how I see it.
