Hi guys, long time lurker, first time poster.

This is not completely Retro-Classic but I figured I would get the best responses on this forum.

I have a 40th coming up in approx 1.5 years and have the okay from the wife to get a new bike. I want to get a lugged steel frame & fork. I will most likely go with a smaller builder and go custom but I am also considering some other options such as Gios, etc.

I came accross the following frame on Chucks Bikes for $395

"Renaissance Luged Cromoly Frame, Beautiful investment cast lugs. Columbus SL tubing. Made by Simmoneti Cycles formally known as Medici. The frame is sold unfinished."

Any information on this frame, builder, or tubing?

Is the price reasonable? Does not include a steel fork, he said they would include a carbon fork but I would want to get a steel fork made and have it painted along with the frame.

I will probably go custom but this could be a fun project bike to build up over the next year or so.

Thanks

...it seems like a lot to me for what it is. You would still need to get it painted, get a nice fork.

If you were a 56cm, among the sizes the bike you mention is avialable, a better solution, for example, would be this *new* CASATI on ebay:

Might want to check these out--some nice De Bernardi's and Guerciottis if you scroll down. I had a De Benardi SL and it was a nice bike

Thanks for the reply. That Casati looks nice but too big. The frames at Chuck's look nice and could be a fun project for something unique but the geometry that was given to me doesn't really work for me. I will keep looking at my options.

Smart cycles has Debarnardi, Zona (steel) frames w/carbon fork for $750-$850. a pretty good deal.
