Ok, tomorrow is La Doyenne, a race that started in the 1880s (dang!). The favorites are Dekker, Schleck, Valverde, Cunego, Kirchen, Valverde, Rebellin and Evans.

My podium is:
1. Valverde
2. Cunego
3. Schleck

Schleck

he just needs to dump Cunego and Valverde before the line

he tried at Amstel

though a Sprint between Valverde and Cunego would be fun

Damiano Cunego. How's that for a safe pick?

Rodriguez.

'Tis a good pick. He did a hell of a lot of work during Amstel and still had a good placing.

Rodriguez is a good dark horse pick.

I'd like to see Schleck pull it off, but he's gotta take a flyer if he's to have any chance of success.

Safe pick: Valverde.

Alternate dark horse: Gesink.

Don't know why Kid Cunego didn't make the final move.

that is classics racing. everything has to come together that one moment

It is why I respect great classics riders so much. Safely finishing in the lead group serves you nothing

you either win or you don't

there is no 'live to fight another day'

so guys who are able to rise to the occasion multiple times a year and/or in their careers to me are much more impressive than guys who win GTs

I'm with you on that.

But guys that win them all are even better ;)

Didn't you mean "pre" LBL predictions? Just wondering, post would indicate that you've already seen the race and are now making predictions on it.

Good picks you had there though. Seemed to work out for you.
