Hi
Im looking to getting a pair of racing wheels, but have been out of the game for some time.
I have been looking around and so many different options.
Looking for something with instant acceleration, light , no flex...mainly used for road racing. and also dont want to break the bank.
any suggestions???
Thanks

You want wheels that are Light, Stiff, and Cheap? I think the saying goes, "You can have two, but not all three!"

I have about 800 miles on my neuvation r28sl3 wheels, including 4 races. I weigh about 165 and they're stiff enough for me and they haven't needed truing yet. I think they weigh around 1540 grams, which is pretty light for a $300 wheelset. Very good customer service also.
Hmmm I just checked the website and it looks like prices are up a little and there are new wheels. I guess if you're interested you should poke around over there...
If you want to spend a little more neuvation also has some carbon tubulars that are very light and aero.
Or you could look into custom wheels, there are people here who will tell you all about that.

Neuvations are frequently mentioned as the price/performance leaders, and John gives excellent service as well. I believe Performance also carries some identical wheels.
I'd say, next up the budget ladder would be some custom built wheels, with Velocity rims and 24/32 spokes. A good wheelbuilder will make 'em nice and tight, super durable and they build up plenty light.

The Rol wheels seem to have a good rep, but you can get some customs like these with White Industries (USA made) hubs with a Ti freehub instead of Chinese hubs, for about the same price. Skewers will be extra, though.
