any tips, recommendations, etc. about the road riding scene?

49x16 fixed is my m.o...i did get a 21T cog just in case.:)

I do have a geared bike too...for this year's Etape...but would like to unload it right after the race (PM me if you're interested...2004 Litespeed Vortex...full Campy Record...pro-deal build...mucho sweet).

Vienna is a great city. Good food, surprisingly good local red wine. Climbing rides just to the west of town. You'll enjoy it.

I agree. Vienna is a great. We just spent a few days there for a marathon my daughter did...and loved the place.

Round around Neusiedlersee lake is nice in that area...approx 120km and flat...perfect for fixie :)
