Weight weenies have been around for a long time....long before uber-light carbon parts, people drilled out components to make them lighter...

Probably....Imagine if RBR existed back then...
Instead of countless posts about carbon fiber scratches effecting the integrity of a frame, image the questions...."I just drilled out my handlebars, is it safe to ride?"

I've seen a bike with the tubes drilled. Maybe someone can find a photo? BTW, the yellow frame with the drillium chainring is mine.
