http://www.cotic.co.uk/product/roadrat "short" model

I want to build something up cheap to try - I'm not going to get to test anything over here (Scotland) but I am really into the idea of a bike that can do rides on tarmac & dirt better than my mtb.

It takes 42c tyres (1.8's without any clearance) - I think this should be reasonable (I've ridden a crosser w/32mm tyres before, the traction/shock absorption was poor)

Are 72/73 angles gonna be OK?

Ditto top tube - 58cm is 1cm below my Ritchey road bike and I am concerned it may be too stretched out - some of the trails I hope to ride are fairly technical.

I've posted this on the 29er forum too - hope this is OK etiquette. TIA for any comments

I think that looks perfect for "monster cross".... it has all the stuff: geared/single/clearance/700c wheels/canti or v mounts..... buy it, build it, and post it here!
