I've got a 130mm Campy 8 speed wheel that I'd like to run on a Shimano equipped bike. My questions are:

1. Can I get a Shimano-spaced cassette that is compatible with the Campy freehub body?

If so:

2. Will a 9 speed Shimano cassette fit in light of the slightly closer spacing?

If not:

3. Will my 9 speed Dura Ace RD work with an 8 speed cassette?

Thanks....

Since 9 speed Campy shifters and derailleurs index quite well on 9 speed Shimano cassettes, I would expect that the reverse is also true. Both compaines will tell you that your bike will burst into flames if you try it, but that's just marketing.

Put a 9 speed Campy cassette on the hub, throw it into your Shimano-equipped bike, adjust the derailluer, if needed, and ride away.

NOTE: Whenever one mixes Campagnolo and Shimano components, the Shimano parts must be lubricated with extra-virgin olive oil. Failure to preform this crucial step will result in the premature failure of the Shimano components. Suntour components do not require this extra step.
