I have a relatively short commute to work (<5 miles) but would like to know if there is a good commuting guide or website/thread with some general recommendations on commuting to work via bicycle. Any ideas?

Bike Forums has a very good commuting sub-forum. They are much more focused on commuting that this forum, which tends to include more ride reports. They also have some sticky threads devoted to advice for new commuters.
