So far I am enjoying it. Being between jobs has allowed me to watch my fair share. Generally speaking, I think NBC has done a pretty decent job. My only gripe, if you may, is that so many events got very little if any attention at all. I love watching swimming, for instance, but this year we where inundated with it. I remember years back when we got a fair share of cycling. This year was, I think, very poor. I taped the events from the we hours of the morning in hopes of seeing track cycling. Two races and it was over...the men's team and individual pursuit gold medal round , and that's it. What about all the other races? Oh well, I guess it's not that popular here is it? I mean it's much more important to watch hours of beach volleyball for instance. Got nothing against the sport, as I did enjoy it. I just think they need to even things out a bit rather than focus so much attention on certain areas and not others.
Are you guys enjoying the Olympics thus far? What are your thoughts regarding the coverage?

They've almost completely eliminated the insipid puff stories. The commentators are pretty good. Even some of the commercials are pretty good. (I like the Allstate commercials, both the shotput knocking over the street light and the dumbbell crashing through to the parking garage). Part of the enjoyment is having access to MSNBC, CNBC & USA Network where things like soccer, water polo, etc. are covered.

How many swimming events are there? It seems like there must have been hundreds of them. And it seemed that it was always the same group of swimmers over and over.
Is track cycling being covered? If so does anyone know what times and networks?
15 minutes of coverage for the men's cycling road race.
Over 3 straight hours for the women's marathon--shown in its entirety.
Talk about boring. No attacks. No chases. No muscle burning climbs. No spine-tingling descents. No team tactics. No variety in the particapants (e.g. climbers vs. sprinters).
Yeah, marathons are tough events, but they are boring as hell to watch in their entirety.
My favorite remark from the marathon commentators: "650 ft of climbing, can you just imagine the difficulty?"

Set your VCR for the we hours of the morning tonight. I'm not sure when the 2 minute coverage  will be aired, but it will be sometime between 11:30 pm tonight and 3:00 am tomorrow morning. NBC
