I'm going to be in Alabama next month for about a week. I am staying at Joe Wheeler State Park, but going to Muscle Shoals daily. I was wanting to ride back and forth (about 25 miles each way, I think). Does anyone have any knowledge of this area? Looking at the map I can take either Hwy 184 (2nd Street) or Hwy 40. Are either of these bike friendly? Thanks in advance.

I rode that loop about a month ago. I stayed in Florence. Went down Wilson dam road(cool bridge with a bird cage) then out 2nd street(184) and up 101. I would suggest not to ride on 72. It kind of sucks. Up and down!! If you are staying at the park. I think it will be OK. Not the most friendly road but Ive seen worse.
