This has been a big week for me in the way of prepping for the season:

1) I'm gluing up a pair of tubies. This is my first time doing this and I think the glue on one of the rims is kind of globby. I started on that rim so it got the first coat of glue I have ever laid down. I'm considering wiping it down with some solvent and then applying two more coats. I'll mount the other wheel tomorrow.

2) I transformed my commuter/pit bike from roadie to 'cross. I put a Mud on the front and a Jet on the back since those were the only two good tires I had in the garage. I replaced the 53 chainring with a 46 and moved the front mech down to match the new chainring. I only have one set of pedals though so I'll have to get a pair of Eggs before the season. The rub is they have to be free (or trade) since money is tight in our house right now.

3) I repacked four sets of bearings. I replaced the thin Shimano grease in the NOS DA hubs (tubie wheelset) with some Phil Wood grease. I repacked the rear Rolf Vector Comp (oh man is that hub thrashed) wheel that I'll use for the pit bike. And I repacked the 105 rear hub on my wet weather commuter wheels.

4) I got my replacement frame. I bought a lightly used Merckx Alu Cross and the down tube was damaged during shipping. UPS finally ponied up some dough and the seller bought a new frame for me. I'm sending the old one back to him. The attached picture are the two frames -- the one in front is the new one. So they aren't frames for a matched set of racers.

Months. Plus a threat to go to small claims court. I think that going to court costs them enough that they are more inclined to settle.
