I'm in the market for my first road bike after battling a mtb with slicks for quite long enough. I've come across a kestrel 4000 carbon spectra that looks really awesome and has pretty good, but older components, 8spd DuraAce sis. from looking on the web it couldn't be newer than 1989, right?
Any word on how the bike rides, lasts, fits? I presume that there is no real disadvantage to having 16 gears instead of 18 and the downtube shifters are kinda cool.
Also on my list are a 1999 Look kg 171 with campy veloce/chorus mix &mavic helium wheels. I know nothing of Looks, please help me.
and a schwinn fastback. this looks like the best of the bunch, but its more money as well. carbon fork, d/a rear, ult. everything else.

Good bikes or no?
