I have a set of Michelin Cyclocross Jets right now. But I know I am going to need something for the mud. What are good mud tires, that will not cost a ton? What do folks think of the Cyclcross Mud2s? Same compnay why now...

As soon as the ground gets wet, the Jets will be worthless. Michelin Muds are a fine choice. There are probably others. The Muds are pretty supple but if you run them at low psi, they are suseptible to pinch flats.

How are the GEAX blade tires for wet/muddy conditions? My bike is coming with Ritchey Speedmax tires, which I hear arent too good in wet weather.

I got the new Michelin Mud 2's 3 weeks ago, and haven't had a single pinch flat running them at their lowest rated PSI. I cased an 18" curb that bent my back rim and was able to ride back 5 miles to my car. In fact, I was quite impressed with them overall. They roll much faster than the old Mud's, but pack with wet mud a little quicker though. I got the 30's, but in hindsight, should have gone wider, as my older Muds felt much better. They work very well in all conditions - mud, dry singletrack, and gravel double track.

A very good tire indeed. Will be on my second pair of wheels in case of a muddy race.

Well I found the short comings today of the Jets. SAND! I was all over the place. I am going to order a set of kobby tires...

Who has the best price on tires?

Any opinions on the:

Ritchey SpeedMax Cross Pro
Kenda Kwick Cyclocross

I think I might just get the Michelin Cyclocross Mud 2s.

What psi were you running? Part of your problem may be you weren't slowing-down properly going into technical stuff. You should wreck maybe once a year in races, not twice a race.

I was running ~42 in the front, and ~45 in the rear. I am ~160 pounds.

I have never been any good at setting PSI on the MTB or CX bikes.
