Upgrading the crankset on my 12 year old "Yokota Enterprise" (lugged chromoly) frameset. The bike was speced with Exage components around 1990..and a cup and cone BB that I'd really love to upgrade. What size shell might I be dealing with?

I know thew frameset is pretty dated but..if the bike fits....?

Almost certain to be a 68 mm shell. Spindle length is more about the crankset than the frame. The other side of the coin is, if you've got a cup and cone BB, just overhaul it unless you're changing cranks. With proper maintenance, they'll last forever.

Your Yokota is a decent frame. If you get the "new bike" bug, maybe make it a fixie?

Hi Shannon,

Thanks for the reply. I'm actually updating the cranket to Ultegra to match the rest of the group. The frameset is a keeper for me...and thanks for the kind words in that regard.
Logged 10 of thousands on it. Not the most modern or the lightest...but fits well and rides beautifully.

So...back the BB issue. If I'm doing an Ultegra double..the BB size would be 68 X ?

Thanks for the Help!
