I just wanted to wish luck to all you brave souls who are riding the Auburn Century tomorrow. I'm working so a friend and I rode it on our own today. Just so you have a little somethin' to shoot for, I time trialed Iowa Hill today...27:05. A friend of mine who is just about as close to a pro as I'll probably ever hang with is shooting for sub 18 minutes. There is going to be a ton of puke on that hillside tomorrow! :D Oh and the knats are getting really bad, nothing like 4.3 mph, 184bpm heart rate, 500 ft of climbing to go and a swarm of knats all over you...
Anyway good luck and we need ride reports!!!

...but I did ride an out and back from Grass Valley to Robinson Flat, so I was along much of the course in the morning. Looks like thay had a pretty good turnout for the Century. The weather was overcast and cool and made for pleasant riding. I didn't use any of the rest stops, but I ran into a few friends doing the ride and from everyone I spoke with, the support was great. Sounds like the new organizers did a good job this year.
Too bad they chose to turn folks around shy of the top though. It would only add another 10 miles or so to the route to take folks up to Robinson Flat; the views off the ridge are surely worth the added climbing. And the water from the well in the meadow is the best!
I TT'd Iowa Hill in 16:19 (my PR is 16 flat). I think the best time yesterday was a 16:11. The gnats weren't an issue due to the cool weather.
Hey, if you're looking for another local 100 this season, come check out our club's century in October--Sierra Express is putting on the Burn of the Century on 10/9. http://www.sierraexpress.org/page4.html

My understanding and what we use is the from the end of the bridge crossing the northfork to the double trunked tree that leans out from the road at about 1.62 miles. You can't miss the tree, it is right where the grade drops to 5% or so. It's my favorite tree in the world... :D
